Hose Faucets

Faucets

Faucets have come a long way since 15 years ago.  Basically it comes down to this.  If you have a faucet that drips and you know it's a "seat & washer type faucet" it's time to replace it with a cartridge type faucet.

This goes for sinks and tub/showers.  Yes it is a bigger expense to change over but future repairs are much easier and cheaper (time wise).  Most new cartridge type faucets offer a life time guarantee from drips.  If you insist on keeping your old "seat & washer" style faucet and it's dripping you should not only replace the washer but the seats too.  Typically what happens is the water starts to deteriorate the smoothness of the seat (the seat is what the washer presses against to turn off/control the flow).  Once the seat gets roughed up it starts to tear up the washer.  If you don't replace the seats you can count on replacing washers about every 2 months.

Trouble Shooting

All of my faucets in the house work great except for one.
If both the hot and cold water are not coming out slow or spattering, there's a good chance your aerator (the thing at the end of your faucet) is clogged.  Unscrew the aerator, clean it out and screw it back in.
